Having The Right Attitude And Character At A New Job
You just got a new job and definitely it is going to be a new environment, new work scheme, new boss, and new workmates to get along and you will be facing and learn new challenges.
This is the point where you are in the adjusting period and getting to know your way around with the environment and people. the first impression of your new colleagues will be important especially on your first day, so, you have to show the right kind of interaction with everyone, together with the right attitude and character at work.
Be a little reserved and observant of your first day, indulging the feeling of familiarizing with the routine in the office and the employees as well, and read more about what you can about your work. Because, you will not be able to know everyone’s name in one go, but be familiar only with looks so take your time, anyways you will always have that immediate friend that can always be the person seated right close to you.
Be comfortable in introducing yourself to a few people in a day, until you get to know everyone by name accordingly. Use this chance to make yourself comfortable, and start looking out on everyone else’s name so that you can slowly know who is and who is what.
Just be polite and always wear a smile, and do not be a know it all person, instead learn to ask for questions about your work as that will make those ahead with you more at ease with you. This is your chance of connecting right through them and giving yourself the chance to get more used to your work until you get it right confidently.
Focus on your work and do not indulge on conversations that is not work-related and that does not concern you, but be observant and keen and opt to learn more about the office environment. At first, you can build camaraderie and relationship with a person or two, but in time you will soon find yourself in a group of friends and colleagues.
It is expected in an environment of people that you cannot please everyone, or you cannot make everyone like you, howbeit, just be polite and kind to everyone, and stick to the kind of people that you feel can be trusted and good to get along with.
It is not easy to be adjusting and making yourself be accepted or to belong in a new and foreign environment at work, however, with the confidence of being able to handle yourself and do your job accordingly without stepping on anyone, then in time you will be in the right path, in the same page with everyone and be comfortable and blend in to what is new.
